Our Anzac Day Services and Parade this year will go ahead as usual with just a few changes due to Covid. Please maintain physical distancing of at least 1.5 meters between families and social groups and wear a mask if vulnerable or unable to maintain physical distancing. At the conclusion of the Service/Parade please disperse in an orderly fashion with the physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres. There is no requirement to sign in for outdoor Anzac Day events
Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide the luncheon after the Main Service. The reason. As any food must be served individually at tables on plates, this will just be too difficult as it would require many more volunteers to perform this.
Another requirement will be for people to bring their own water as we cannot allow access to cups and water containers.
Dawn Service: To commence at 5.15 a.m.
The Dawn Service will be held at the W.W. 1 Cenotaph in Roderick Cruice Park (beside the pool). Bring a light and participate in the service.
Parade and Main Service
The Main Parade will be as it was in 2019. Form up will be at the hotel at 9.00 a.m. and the march will begin at 9.30a.m. sharp and proceed to the school. Buses will again be available to transport people to the Memorial in the War Memorial Grounds [Showgrounds] for the service to commence at 10.00 a.m., or alternatively a short walk from the school through Tullamore Park will get you to there in time for the service. The buses will be provided by Brisbane Bus Lines and the drivers will give their time as well. Thanks to Dale Tokley and Maurice Weston from Brisbane Bus Lines. The buses will also be available for anyone wanting to leave their cars at the showgrounds and be transported to the hotel for the parade and returned to the Memorial in the showgrounds for the service after the parade. This will allow people to have their vehicles available to be able to leave at their leisure. The buses will leave to transport people to the parade at 9.00 sharp.
2UP: 2up will be held at the Dayboro Bowls Club commencing at around 1.30 p.m. We will also have some raffles and all proceeds will go to the War Memorial Association and used to support Ex-service people by conducting Remembrance Services and maintain & improve Dayboro’s War Memorials. Signing in at the Bowls Club will be a requirement.
Wreath Laying Ceremony
Organisations or private people wanting to lay wreaths/floral arrangements please contact Richard Hawkins on 0418735626 email firstname.lastname@example.org
Private people wishing to lay a wreath, can, if desired state who it is memory of and it will be announced when the person is called forward. This extends the time taken for the wreath laying ceremony but we think the extra time taken is worth it.
Due to lack of flowers available at this time of year it would be appreciated if the person or organisation could supply their own wreath.
